Port of Rotterdam Authority

Rotterdam, your world-class port

The aim of the Port of Rotterdam Authority (PRA) is to enhance the port’s competitive position as a logistics hub and world-class industrial complex. Our tasks are to develop, manage and run the port in a sustainable way and to maintain a speedy and safe service for shipping.

Rotterdam is directly situated on the North Sea, with 24/7 access. The port accommodates companies specialising in storage, transshipment, industrial processing and auxiliary services. There are excellent hinterland connections via rail, inland shipping, road, short sea/feeder and pipeline.
The port will continue to grow. That’s why the Port Authority constructs Maasvlakte 2. It offers companies a top location in the heart of the European market. 1000 hectares of sites will become available for deepsea-related container handling, distribution, chemicals and new industry. In 2013 the first containers are to be handled.

PRA markets its wide experience in port management through participations in port management companies elsewhere in the world. In Oman RPA has already a participation; in India, Brasil and Malaysia participations are in various phases of development.
