About the programme
Focus on India is a joint program of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Waterways, Holland Marine Equipment Association and the Sino Netherlands Platform.
The aim of ‘Focus on India’ is to become a partner for India in further developing its maritime sector. The program strives to achieve this by representing and promoting Dutch maritime technology in India, by acting as a first contact point between Dutch and Indian companies, by supporting the companies in collecting and analysing market information and by supporting the companies that seek opportunities for cooperation in India as well as in the Netherlands. We offer our members a network of expertise related to maritime matters and keep the industry updated on all developments in the field of shipbuilding, logistics, shipping, ports and port development and inland waterways. Our motto ‘Let become partners in Progress’
Partnership between India and The Netherlands
The Netherlands have a long tradition in the production of innovative maritime solutions. Being strategically located in the delta of the Rivers Rhine and Maas, The Netherlands is for centuries the prosperous focal point of West European trade and development. Since the Middle Ages, our country developed a rich tradition in the maritime sector, ranging from ocean going shipping to inland navigation, from the largest port in Europe to the largest inland shipping fleet, from dredging to offshore, from naval construction to civil shipbuilding and yacht building. The Dutch maritime sector can be described as dynamic and complete. The Indian and Dutch maritime sector can form a strong partnership of which both parties can profit. Inland and coastal shipping are highly developed in the Netherlands, and could be a solution for Indian transport too. Furthermore, Dutch suppliers are much experienced when it comes to building complex vessels, such as dredgers, yachts, tugs, fishing vessels and navy vessels. India and the Netherlands have a lot to offer to one another when it comes to the maritime business and should therefore invest in a joint future.
What does this program mean for you?
The Dutch maritime industry focuses on India until 2011. That means that we will invest time and resources in the long term relationship between the maritime communities of both countries. We will do that by attending trade shows, by organizing trade missions, by cooperating in strategic projects, by monitoring technical co-operation, by launching this website and by introducing Dutch companies.
Through ‘partnership & cooperation’ and ‘experience & resources’ the members of Focus on India will find creative ways for innovation and development of the maritime industry in India.
